Vehicle Maintenance Guide

Many people find mechanical topics difficult, but the points that appear on the written exam are limited.
We've organized the numbers and rules you need to memorize, like when to do daily inspections and when to change tires.

When to do Daily Inspections?

Basically, daily inspections are your own responsibility.

[Principle]
Perform them at an "appropriate time" based on mileage and driving conditions.
[Exception] Vehicles requiring Once Daily (Pre-operation) Inspection
The following vehicles MUST be inspected every day before driving:
  • Commercial Vehicles like Taxis
    (*Excluding motorcycles and light vehicles)
  • Rental Cars
  • Specific Private Cars like large trucks or buses
(*Capacity 11+ people, large special vehicles, etc.)

Checkpoints

Check these 3 areas: "Driver's Seat", "Engine Room", and "Around the Car".

🚗 Driver's Seat Check
  • Brakes: Pedal feel, clearance (gap with the floor).
  • Parking Brake: Check if lever travel is too much or too little.
  • Engine: Start-up, abnormal noise, low-speed/acceleration status.
  • Wipers: Movement, wiping condition, washer fluid spray.
⚙️ Engine Room Check

Mainly check if fluid levels are within the specified range.

Item Check Content
Fluid Levels Are brake fluid, battery fluid, coolant, washer fluid, etc., within the specified range?
*If battery fluid is low, refill with "Distilled Water".
Engine Oil Check level with the level gauge.
(Is it between Upper F and Lower L?)
Fan Belt Press the center to check tension and damage.
🔍 Around the Car Check
  • Lights: Check headlights/blinkers for lighting, dirt, or damage.
  • Tires: Air pressure, cracks, tread depth.

[Important] Tires & Exhaust Gas

These numbers and colors appear often on exams. Memorize them!

🛞 Tire Management
  • Rotation:
Perform every 3,000 - 5,000 km to prevent uneven wear.
  • Slip Sign:
Indicator to check if tread depth is sufficient.
  • Tire Chains:
Must be installed on Drive Wheels.
(FF = Front, FR = Rear)
💨 Exhaust Gas Color
  • Colorless / Pale Blue: ⭕ Normal (Complete Combustion)
  • Black: ❌ Abnormal (Incomplete Combustion)
  • White: ❌ Abnormal (Burning Engine Oil)
🏍️ Motorcycle Chain
Press the center with your finger to check for excessive slack or tightness.

It's okay if you're not a mechanic.
Just make sure to memorize the "Timing" and "Signs of Abnormalities"!
